Meet Coach Neemias, also known as “Costa” – a former Brazilian National Team libero turned successful professional player. With experience playing in Brazil, Mexico, and Europe.
Coach Costas' expertise isn’t limited to the court. With four years of teaching Physical Education at Temecula Valley Charter School and coaching experience across all levels and age groups, Costa has led teams at Great Oak High School, Mesa High School, and Temecula Valley High School to D1 State Championship victories.
As Director of Viper, Costa oversaw its remarkable growth and established his own beach club, the largest in the valley. In 2024, he pioneered the first Beach High School team in the area and co-founded BRUSA VOLLEYBALL alongside William “El Mago” Arjona and Guilherme Fiapo.

“El Mago” (Spanish for “the magician”) earned his nickname during his time in Argentina for his strategic and magical approach to volleyball.
William is known as one of the greatest setters in the history of indoor volleyball. He worked for 27 years as a professional, winning numerous individual and collective awards, among them he was considered the best setter in the world 3 times and 1 time MVP. He was considered the best setter in the super league in Brazil 11 consecutive times.
Among his greatest achievements is the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As a coach, he shares his unique volleyball philosophy with college teams across the US.
Together with Coach Fiapo and coach Costa, he co-founded BRUSA VOLLEYBALL.

Guilherme Fiapo is a volleyball champion with extensive experience working with both the Brazilian Women’s and Men’s National Volleyball Teams, as well as women’s professional volleyball clubs in Brazil, alongside renowned coach Bernardinho.
His expertise lies in optimizing athlete performance and addressing injuries, playing a pivotal role in maintaining top mental and physical condition. In the USA, Fiapo contributed to April Ross and Alix Klineman’s Olympic gold medal success and led a Junior 17s girls volleyball team to a Nationals victory in 2023.
Coach Fiapo also led Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson, of Canada, to the Olympic Silver Medals in Paris in July, 2024

Jim Downey is a well-respected figure in Southern California volleyball, with over thirty years of coaching experience. For 28 years, he has been key to the success of the Orange County Volleyball Club, leading teams that consistently rank among the best in the SCVA region. His teams won 8 national titles at the Volleyball Festival in Davis, California, once the leading championship for junior volleyball.
Additionally, as the former head coach at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Jim led the high school program to four straight State Finals, achieving 2 State Titles and 4 CIF Titles. He has received various awards, including Los Angeles Times Coach of the Year, Orange County Register Coach of the Year, and CIF Coach of the Year. Jim's influence and commitment to developing young athletes have left a lasting legacy in the volleyball community.

Randy played tennis before discovering volleyball, quickly joining the Athletes In Action Men's Volleyball team as an outside hitter and setter. He earned a BA in Psychology from Vanguard University and an MS in Kinesiology from CSUF, all while playing indoors and at the beach. Randy coached at Vanguard, Chapman University, and Orange Coast College, completing the USA Volleyball Coaches Training program. He has coached international all-star teams in China, Japan, Australia, Russia, Finland, and Sweden, and has worked with various age group clubs. Recently, he co-coached with his wife at Rancho Christian and Temecula Valley High School, winning a 10-0 League Title in 2016. Randy’s teams have achieved Gold, Bronze, and Silver at numerous tournaments. He brings a wealth of volleyball knowledge and looks forward to coaching at Brusa. Off the court, Randy retired from the Riverside County Probation Department and enjoys fishing, hiking, biking, and camping.

Coach Leanna has coached girls volleyball for fifteen + years here in the valley, as well as for clubs in Orange County and Santa Barbara. In addition to club, she has coached varsity volleyball at Temecula Valley High School and Rancho Christian High School alongside her husband, Randy Bush. A favorite memory for Coach Leanna is going undefeated in league with a special group of athletes at TVHS in 2016, as well as earning three gold medals with her 2021 14s team, including one at USA Nationals.
Playing Experience:
Leanna started at Grossmont Community College, leading the Griffins to a state championship and earning All-State and All-American honors, which led to a scholarship at U.C. Santa Barbara. After earning her BA in Communications she played professionally in Italy's A1 league and for the Orange County Diggers.

DESI BROWN
BEACH PROGRAM HEAD COACH
Desi is a former collegiate beach volleyball athlete with a championship title from Grossmont College and multiple conference and national honors. She continued her playing career at The Master’s University, earning All-GSAC and Scholar-Athlete recognition. Desi holds a B.A. in Kinesiology and an M.S. in Exercise Science and Wellness with a focus on Fitness and Performance from Liberty University.
As a coach and strength specialist, Desi brings nearly a decade of experience across college, high school, club, and international volleyball. She currently serves as an Assistant Beach Volleyball and Strength Coach at Grossmont College and has coached with top programs like 692 Beach, Legacy, and Viper Volleyball. Her well-rounded background equips her to lead and grow a high-level beach volleyball program that develops both athletic performance and strong team culture.
CARLOS GONZALES

Coach Carlos brings 11 years of experience coaching at both local and national levels, demonstrating a deep commitment to the sport. His coaching philosophy centers on the belief that the team wins together and loses together, emphasizing unity and collective effort. Coach Carlos expects every player to be fully committed to the process, understanding that dedication is key to success. His primary goal is to ensure that the girls not only have fun but also gain a comprehensive understanding of volleyball, fostering both skill development and a love for the game.
Coach Carlos is a proud father of four daughters, one son, and a wonderful wife. All of his daughters have played volleyball, showing the family’s strong connection to the sport. His second daughter currently showcases her skills as a setter for San Diego State University, continuing the family tradition at a collegiate level.

Coach Madison has made a significant impact in the volleyball community, both as a player and a coach. Having played college volleyball at California State University, San Marcos, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her coaching role. Currently, she serves as the Varsity Volleyball Team Coach at Fallbrook High School, where she has dedicated the past five years to developing young athletes' skills and fostering a competitive spirit.
MCKENNA CONKLIN
TEAM COACH
Coach Kenna has been immersed in the world of volleyball since she was just 10 years old. Her played for whole four years at Temecula Valley High School, where she distinguished herself on the court. After high school, she continued to excel at Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC), achieving remarkable accolades including MVP, Team MVP, and First Team All-Conference during her freshman year, followed by being named Conference MVP in her sophomore year.

Coach Nasko was part of the junior national volleyball team of Bulgaria.
At 17 years old, Coach Nasko joined the men's volleyball team of Montana VC. From 1991 to 1994 , he was a member of volleyball club Akademik (Sofia), where he played while earning a degree in physical therapy. With Akademik, Coach Nasko won a gold medal at the national college volleyball championship. Coach Nasko retired from competitive play in 1994 due to ankle injuries.
Since retiring, Coach Nasko have practiced physical therapy professionally. He is also a graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Des Moines. Coach Nasko currently also serve as Director of Rehabilitation Services at Temecula Valley Hospital.

With a background in finance and corporate operations Ursula brings a dedicated focus to BRUSA.
Now with over a decade of experience in the day to day operations within juniors volleyball she elevates & cares for each athlete and coach that comes through our doors. Her coordination and attention to every detail helps the club be at its best.
